Orto-Tokoi reservoir is the first reservoir built in Kyrgyzstan in 1956. It is located on the Chu River, near the village of Kochkor. Its length is about 18 km, and the volume is more than 4,700 million cubic meters. The main task of the reservoir is the irrigation of agricultural land in the Chui region and in the south of Kazakhstan. The water surface impresses with its huge open space and serenity, while in different places the water changes its color: somewhere pale blue, somewhere emerald, and somewhere almost black. Around the gray and brown mountains surrounding it.
