- Jalal-Abad region
- Fergana range
The Tien Shan mountain range, stretching from the south-east to the north-west, is separated from the cold high-altitude plateaus of the central Tien Shan from the Znyh Plains of the Fergana Valley. The length of the ridge is 225 km. Width 62 km. The average height (sea level) is 3,620 m. The highest peak of Kara-Kuldzh (Uch-Seyit) is 4,940 m. In the southeast part there are about 400 glaciers with a total area of about 195 km2.
The region of the southern part of the Fergana Range is located at the junction of the Tien Shan and Pamir-Alai. From this area close to the top of Kokshaal-Too.
The region consists of metamorphic rocks - shale and sandstone. In this part of the ridge, which we managed to visit, black slates dominate. As a rule, they are easily destroyed when exposed. Work on the rocks, the complexity of such a rock is very difficult.
